Many of today’s most popular Big Data software projects such as Apache Hadoop and Apache Kafka are managed under the umbrella of the Apache Software Foundation. Hence a formidable way for you to catch up with the current state of the art as well as the open source community of the Big Data world is the upcoming Apache: Big Data Europe conference, which takes place in Budapest, Hungary, September 28-30, 2015. The conference will cover technologies, techniques, and best practices that are shaping the data ecosystem across a wide range of industries including finance, business, manufacturing, government and academia, media, energy, and retail.
This year’s Apache: Big Data conference features 120+ sessions including a strong presence of interesting talks about Apache Kafka and stream processing. I will be presenting Being Ready for Apache Kafka: Today’s Ecosystem and Future Roadmap on Tuesday, September 29 at 2pm.
By Michael G. Noll, Developer Evangelist, Confluent
Apache Kafka is a high-throughput distributed messaging system that has become a mission-critical infrastructure component for modern data platforms. Kafka is used across a wide range of industries by thousands of companies such as Twitter, Netflix, Cisco, PayPal, and many others. After a brief introduction to Kafka this talk will provide an update on the growth and status of the Kafka project community.
The rest of the talk will focus on walking the audience through what’s required to put Kafka in production. We’ll give an overview of the current ecosystem of Kafka, including: client libraries for creating your own apps; operational tools; peripheral components required for running Kafka in production and for integration with other systems like Hadoop. We will cover the upcoming project roadmap, which adds key features to make Kafka even more convenient to use and more robust in production. If you’re interested in getting up to speed with Apache Kafka, its fast-growing ecosystem, and what is needed to put Kafka-powered applications and services into production, I invite you to sign up for my session and find me at the conference.
I’d be happy to chat with you about all things Kafka, the blessings and perils of stream processing, Big Data DevOps, or why vim is superior to emacs. Of course, feel free to share your feedback, questions, and suggestions — about my conference talk or about Kafka in general — with us at any time via https://www.confluent.io/contact or @ConfluentInc on Twitter.
If you haven’t signed up for Apache: Big Data Europe, I’m happy to share my speaker discount code: SPKABD which allows you to get 30% off. Register here.
